WD TV not recognising WD Passport External Drive

Hi

i have a WD TV Media Box and WD 500GB Passport Drive

but when i connect it to the media drive it doesnt recognise it and says ( no media attached )

but when i plug in my Lacie 1tb Drive it picks it up no probs

any advice ?
