Anyone know anything about hard crashes on the latest WD TV (latest version missing Netflix) when paired with VLC running on iOS devices?
I have other UPnP devices on my network and while WD TV does not show up on the VLC app, a few moment after I start to use the VLC app on my iPad/iPhone, I can consistently get the WD TV to reboot/crash. It’s not a soft reboot, but everything goes blank and there is loudish snap sound coming from the attached hard drive. I think this is curious and a little concerning, given that my experiments have clearly shown that the WD TV has serious vulnerabilites. Initially, I thought the device was overheating, but I had a 80mm fan underneath and it still crashes.
Am I missing something simple?
