WD tv live

Only bought the player this week unfortunately it keeps freezing and only way to get it back is to power off and on. Streaming music pictures and video from WD cloud mirror. Is it faulty or a firmware problem. Upto date firmware. Any advise appreciated.

Hello there,

Have you tried resetting the unit to see if this fixes the issue? In case it is a firmware problem, try to roll back the firmware eon the unit and then re update it manually by downloading it from the WD website.

Here is a link that will help you reset the unit:

This link will help you with the roll back procedure:

Depending on your unit you can go to the download section on home entertainment and get the latest firmware from there or you can update the firmware from the unit itself.

My media player is running 1.01.30 and it is advised not to rollback by Western Digital. Only had player a week and really not happy. 1.01.30 is not available on web site that must say it all. Come on Western Digital fix your firmware quickly.

(A)  There is no such Firmware as 1.3.10 … there is however  1.01.30   which you can find here

(B) Quote: My media player is running 1.3.10 and it is advised not to rollback by Western Digital

Read a little further …

Downgrading your firmware is not recommended by WD. Please only downgrade if you experienced an issue that prevents you from otherwise upgrading or using your WD TV product

Sorry typo

Which firmware should I rollback to.

Well, there’s only one “Rollback Firmware” in this link 1.00.42

http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5860

There is another, that for some reason was “pulled”  :confounded: 1.01.26 (you won’t find it in the rollback guide, but i found the link … and you will have to edit the *.ver file to perform a rollback)

http://community.wd.com/t5/WD-TV-Media-Player/Firmware-1-01-26-for-WD-TV-Gen-2-WDBPUF0000NBK-00/m-p/811519#M1061

But, honestly … i don’t know if they will solve the issue, but you’re welcome to try  (i don’t stream, i just use local usb playback)

Personally, i’m hoping for an update before Christmas … (most important time of the year, and when lot’s of people might be getting these as a present)

Thanks for all your help, think I’ll just wait for revision. Player works but like I said it freezes, don’t think I need to send it back to Dabs as it would appear it is a firmware problem. Really pleased with quality of my videos streamed from my WD cloud mirror. Streaming music using optical output to a sound bar that’s brilliant quality too. So if it didn’t freeze I would be more than happy. I have join the WD Crew so might get a beta firmware to try.

That’s a good idea   … i wasn’t involved in the beta for WDTV Media Player, but did contact via WD CREW a while ago to say i’d be happy to test any new Firmwares.

Regarding the freezes, be patient, i’m confident that WD will provide a new firmware update hopefully soon
