WD TV Live works with External DVD

Just wanted to post my findings…

I was able to play:

-DVD’s single layer (w/subtitles)

-DVD’s dual layer (w/subtitles)

-mkv and mp4 on DVD Single layer (w/subtitles)

on the WD TV Live by using the Samsung SE-208AB external slim DVD writer using the AV Connectivity mode.

Unfortunately,

-mkv and mp4 on DVD Dual layer

plays but, its choppy and unable to RW or FF, although subtitles work.

hope it helps, been waiting for this a long time.

can i ask you where you got the DVD drive from and what usb port did you try it on front, back or both.

Thats because that player supports AV Connectivity.

From the manual:

What does the “AV Connectivity” mean?
Although a normal ODD cannot be connected to a TV directly, the product can be
connected to devices (such as TV) that support USB interfaces and can then be used
as a USB memory device. “AV Connectivity” refers to this functionality

When you say that it plays DVD’s do you mean commercial protected DVD’s or some that you have made.
