WD TV Live Plus Audio Sample Rate 1.06.16_B

I was so happy to see that WD had developed a new firmware to stop downsampling HD audio to 48kHz. I was very disappointed to see that after installing it that I am still seeing the same downsampling.

I have a high degree of interest in playing high definition audio files through the WD TV Live Plus, up to 192kHz/24bit. Anyone had any success doing this or is it just me?

I have a WD TV Live and was  awaiting the fix to the 48k downsampling issue.

I f the fix hasnt been done then I am gutted.

I have downloaded a lot of HD music in anticipation of this fix.

WD are an appaling bunch of incompetants.

I shall be looking for a replacement media player as time after time WD **bleep** up the firmware releases.

go into the settings menu, and change the sampe rate. whatever it says, change it to something else. exit the menu, and go back and change it back to what it should be. It fixed my issue

apparently you don’t do software development so your knowledge is limited on this works

WD aren’t incompentant fools. They have a limited number of stuff to test with, there’s zero way they can replicate every environment out there. So the device doesn’t work for your setup. This is a fallacy to say that the device is a piece of garbage, and you should blame the entire company for your problem. the device supports a ton of different things, from music, photo, and video. It’s nearly impossible to develop the device so it works with every possible configuration out there. for every poster that comes onto the board, I bet there’s 100 people out there that own the product that have zero problems. We users on the board only hear the complaints, never do we hear about the stories where this device works perfectly.

I guess you haven’t seen the forums at roku, boxee, popcorn, or apple tv. They all have issues, and no device is perfectly bug free. So good luck out there.

I have done software development, for some 30 years.

If I had releaseed software with so many bugs in that WD’s firmware appears to have at each release, I would not only have been out of a job, but disgusted with myself.

I agree that there may be no perfect media player, but WD need to get on top f this issue or their reputaion may well be damaged in this particular area of product.

The Media player market is becoming a very hot topic and only the best will survive.

For the money I do believe that the WD TV products are great value, and I am resonably satisfied as it gives me 95% of what I need, but the HD audio downsampling issue need s to be fixed so that I can enjoy the files I have so far downloaded. If the bug is not fixed then I see no benefit in downloading any more, thus depriving another business of revenue.

I found it!! Under Audio/Video settings I had to reset the unit to digital audio pass through on HDMI only. This is giving me 96kHz/24bit sound for the first time!
