I am looking to buy Slingbox for home and then use my Live box to connect my HD TV on my boat via internet. Can it be done? Will the WD Live connect via internet to my Slingbox and let me control DVR remotely like with a computer or smartphone?

No. The WD Live is not a Sling catcher.
