WD TV Live 1.03.35 does not play m2ts (blu-ray) files

WD TV Live 1.03.35 does not play m2ts (blu-ray) files.  1.0.21 does play m2ts files. Is final version going to support this?

Don’t you mean that it does not play your m2ts files.

I can certainly play m2ts files with the 1.03.35 beta firmware. Sometimes the unit will say that a file is unsupported but if you then back out, maybe go into standby and then start again it usually works.

Also after updating the firmware it is recommended to:

reset via side paperclip button

reset to factory defaults via internal menu

leave the unit unplugged for some minutes (not seconds)

Do all 3 before using the unit.

After the reset (soft and hard), unplugged live for a couple of minutes. Still it does not play my m2ts files. I see these work in browser preview mode. Play or Enter button brings the movie from preview mode to full screen mode and plays AD and FBI warning for few seconds and freezes. I have to unplug the LIVE as no button works. Both preview and 1.02.21 play movie directly with no AD and FBI warning.

I  appreciate any help in this matter. I do not want to go back to 1.02.21.

Wait a minute – you’re saying that an older version of the firmware somehow skips past part of the video of the M2TS file?  That’s crazy.

How are you files set up?  Is this a single M2TS file you’re trying to play, and if so, what happens when you play it on the PC, do you see the AD and FBI warnings then?  Because there’s no way the Live would just skip past these.

If this wasn’t a blu-ray I’d say you were trying to play it like a DVD (like playing the VIDEO_TS.INFO file which brings up the list).  AFAIK, the Live cannot play a blu-ray playlist, so I hope you’re not trying that.  You should have a single M2TS file all by itself (no other files from that blu-ray rip in there) and if it contains the FBI warning at the beginning it will HAVE to be shown.

Also, tell us how you are playing these files – local hard drive, net shares, media player, wired or wireless?

I have two blu-ray ripped movies. Each movie contains several m2ts files. one m2ts file for main movie and other for extras, AD and FBI warning. Older version plays main movie (only) directly. Newer version played one movie correctly  when the folder has one m2ts file (main movie). Second movie, main movie, is one large m2ts file (38 GB). When played with newer version, I see an audio issue. I hear two audios, back ground music playing continuously through out the movie and second audio (low voice) with actual movie dialogs.

Hi viraj. I have the same FBI warning issue since my firmware upgrade (now 1.04.10): the m2ts files play only in browser preview mode and in “full screen” only the warning (7s). How did you manage with this problem? Did you find a solution? Thanks
