WD TV HD Live and WD MyBook Live

Hi,

I’ve had the MyBook Live for about a year now, and I can say that I’ve grown to like it quite a bit. I only have two problems, one that it only transfers files at 1,5 MB/sek, and the other is that it can’t stream .mkv due to the version of Twonky.

I’m now planning on buying a WD TV and i simply wonder if I will be able to stream .mkv files with the WD TV from the MyBook live? Is it possible to access it as a network drive instead of the media server? If so, will the slow transfer times that I’m experiencing be a problem if i want to stream a 720p file at around 10GB?

Thanks in advance,

sikava

Yes, you should be able to stream MKV using this drive, just need to setup your network right.

The speed might affect the streaming, are you using the device wireless?

And how should the network be set up?

Yes, usually I use it wirelessly, and get transfer speeds up to a maximum of 1,5 MB/s. If I do it with my computer connected with ethernet cable to the router i get about 10 MB/s, and if the computer and MB Live are connected directly through an ethernet cable I get about 20 MB/s. Are these speeds considered normal?

Thanks!
