WD TV GEN 1 with GEN 2 update

Did anyone try to update generation 1 WD TV with update for generation 2 WD TV HD firmware. I know that the procedure is jus to rename update files (.bin , .ver) from “wdtvhd” to “wdtv” but iam afraid i ll brick my device…

I wouldn’t do it.  You will brick it.  It’s one thing to rename it and another for it to work.
