WD TV - Freezes with My Cloud

Hello, need help, i’ve read a lot of Posts about freezing movies but didn’t find the anser to this problem

i’m trying to play a 1080P MKV file

-External USB 3.0 My Book Essential

plugged directly into the USB port of the WD TV and it works fine

-External USB 2.0 Elements

plugged directly into the USB port of the WD TV and it works fine

-MY CLOUD plugged directly to WDTV via Ethernet cable accessing via Media Server

it works fine no freezing but no subtitles, looks like it doesn’t support this feature

-MY CLOUD plugged directly to WDTV via Ethernet cable accessing via Network Share

freezes after 1 minute or so

so if it don’t freezes watching the movie via media server or via usb port’s why it freezes via network shares?

tried diferent cables, tried defragging the drives, need help.

Do you encounter the same behavior when accessing network shares when your WD My Cloud is connected to a router instead?

Hi and thanks for the reply,

yes i have the same problem when i connected the WDTV and My Cloud to the router a TP LINK 3420, 

i went and bought a hub from TP LINK TL-SG108e thinking it was because the router only works on 100mbps but no success there

i have 2 external hard drives connected to the USB ports and the My CLoud connected to the ethernet port of the WDTV,

in this moment, i don’t know why it freezes the image?,(only using net work shares, when playing the movie using media server (the same movie) works fine but with no Subtitles

  

am i missing some configurations on the WDTV? (i restored to the factory default’s and i have the latest firmware 1.06.43_V 

any sugestions?

i’ve discovered a way (by accident) it didn’t resolved the issue, but now i can see a movie without the freezing on my tv!.

firts the conections:

Laptot conected to the hub TP-LINK TL-SG108E via ethernet cable

MYCLOUD conected to the hub TP-LINK TL-SG108E via ethernet cable

WDTV conected to the hub TP-LINK TL-SG108E via ethernet cable

I start the movie in WDTV ->NETWORK SHARES->MYCLOUD (enter user and password) chose a folder and play

I also start a movie in my laptop inside MYCLOUD, a diferent one.

don’t know why but it works

I finaly have my home network working!  (i think!)

NOTE: i don’t understand nothing about networks, it’s all by trial and error

So

i’ve upgraded MYCLOUD 2TB to  the latest firmware v04.01.04-422

i’ve also upgraded WDTV to the latest firmare 1.06.43_V

i have MYCLOUD plugged via ethernet cable directly to WDTV Media Player

playing a mkv file in the public video library works fine, i also tryed the same file inside an extrenal usb2.0 drive, plugged to MYCLOUD and it worked fine, i also tried the same file with a external usb3.0 hardrive plugged to MYCLOUD and worked fine to.

NOTE: using NETWORK SHARE not MEDIA SERVERS, i deactivated this option on MYCLOUD

so, tried diferente things

i plugged via ethernet cat5 cable again

WDTV MEDIA PLAYER to the TP-LINK TL-SG108E HUB

MYCLOUD 2TB to the TP-LINK TL-SG108E HUB

MY BOOK 2TB ELEMENTS to MYCLOUD 2TB

so i had to configure manualy my network usig static ip config

this is how i did

MYCLOUD1
Endereço IP  192.168.1.115
Subnet Mask  255.255.255.0
Default Gateway  192.168.1.1

TP-LYNK - TL-SG108E
Endereço IP  192.168.1.116
Subnet Mask  255.255.255.0
Default Gateway  192.168.1.1

WDTVLIVE
Endereço IP  192.168.1.117
Subnet Mask  255.255.255.0
Default Gateway  192.168.1.1

.

I tried to play the mkv file, it played the first minute or so but then it freezed

so in the hub “SWITCHING” menu i tunerd off the “FLOW CONTROL” to all doors and “SPEED DUPLEX” to Auto

now it works fine

.

i have a TP-LYNK 3420 but it doesn’t recognize my alcatel 4g pen, so i haven’t tried accessing  MYCLOUD via web, that’s the next spep
