WD Sync Deleting Files-Folders I Never Deleted & Making Multiple Long Name Duplicates

I have a MyCloudMirror and the program WD Sync. I was using SmartWare but did not want a backup, but a sync scenario, so using WD Sync I have found after using WD Sync it has deleted files and folders from places on my drive I have not been in years. I will go to it and find they are gone. The Recycle Bin is full of so much stuff I don’t catch it or if I use CCleaner I don’t see its contents. After noticing missing files, I realized WD Sync is the culprit.

Now I leave the recycle bin open and every time I work on the computer, I look to be sure nothing has been deleted I didn’t want to be. Yesterday I did some work and added a bunch of files and folders. I added photos then resized them. It appears the program ■■■■■ pretty bad. After my work I found multiple coppies of the same pictures but with a bunch of extra numbers behind the original name, seeming to correlate with when WD Sync decided to create the extra of the same. Why does it arbitrarily adding duplicates with extra info in the file name???

Then today, I look at the recycle bin and there are about 75 critical files AND folders I never deleted in the recycle bin! Why does it do this? I never deleted them or their main folders. Most of the time the WD Sync says “up to date” and then later I find this. I have found I need to slow down and wait for the program or it does it even worse. if I add to many files, it freaks out and starts duplicating many copies and or deleting things-STUPID.

Sometimes it has a hard time syncing if I drag en email form Outlook, it’ll say “cannot sync, will try later” or if I move a file, it flips out and gets stuck for days until I clear the notifications, move the file to an unsynced folder, reopen WD Sync and wait for it to be “up to date” (which is it really, as above it does things after it says that and deletes hours worth of work), then copy and paste it back to the folder. It would almost be easier to copy the entire computer every day to the MyCloudMirror, but I dont want the SmartWare type of thing copying every day everything for no reason, and Smartware is glitchy also.

Any ideas or help. Yes I know 3rd part apps may be better supposedly. What about the program itself, why is it doing this? How can it be avoided? What more do I need to do to baby it to not mess with me? It is like someone purposely engineered it to be junk.

If you haven’t already you may want to dig through the dedicate My Cloud Mirror subforum and the WD Software subforum to see if there are similar discussions to your issue(s).

Generally this subforum deals with the single bay My Cloud units which are different than the multi bay My Cloud units like the Mirror.

WD Sync is what it is. Many have problems with it. It helps to not have an application open when WD Sync is performing a sync.
