WD SN850 500gb randomly shutdown my computer

Hello,i had the SSD for about a year or so on my PS5 without issues.I did upgraded to a bigger drive tho so i used this one on PC. From the time i put the SSD in,the computer started shutting down at random times…sometime it can be 30 min sometimes 2 days…I troubleshooted every component on the computer, took me two weeks to do so…The computer is working fine when the SDD is removed.Im with the latest SSD and mobo firmware.

My computer motherboard is Biostar B550GTA Ver. 5.0,they do have 1-2 TB on their list of supported drives, but not the 500gb one.Is 500gb different that the rest? It doesnt make much sense…Is there anything that can fix the issue?

Hi @Nasos,

Have you opened a Support Case? If not opened, for more information, please contact the WD Technical Support team for the best assistance and troubleshooting:

I will do it now, thank you!

For anyone that is interested in case you got a similar problem,it was the on board motherboard sound card that did it all. Thanks WD for the support they provided!

Checking temp of SSD

Shutdowns are not the SSD, there is something else wrong with Windows causing it to crash. Check /windows/minidump and see if anything is present

if it is empty I would suspect a RAM fault
