I just updated my WD smartware and now when I click to open I get the message “Configuration system failed to initialize” and nothing I do will open the software. Anyone heard of this or had this happen? How to fix?
Try reinstalling the update. If that does not fix it, then uninstall and reinstall it.
Thanks Kieren, I’ve already tried that on advice from a WD tech. Not only didn’t that work, but now my machine can’t see the WD My Book at all.
Ow. Back to the drawing board.
Does the My Book show up in Device Manager? Also, are there any warning signs on USB ports in Device Manager?
