After backing up my MacBook the WD smartware software was constantly running in the background. It really slowed down my computer and caused it to heat up a ton! I tried to force it to quit up it kept starting again. I just uninstalled it and my computer is back to running like it’s normal wonderful self. Does anyone have any advise about how to avoid this problem? I was hoping to use this drive as a portable drive between home and school…

Automatic backup software of any kind will do that. If it’s a problem for you, use a scheduled backup system such as Windows Backup or if you have a Mac try Time Machine.
