WD Smartware Back Ups -back up files from attached USB external hdd on the NAS?

Hi , I have a WD Duo with 2 x 3 TB drives configured as RAID and now using the WD smartware s/w to back up the selected files from my PC onto the NAS unit . I cannot see however how to back up the files from the external HDD that is attached to the NAS unit via the USB port. Is this possible?

Is possible, but not using SmartWare. You can transfer the files manually, or using a third party backup software.
