I have a WD MyBook Essential 2T. I used it for backup of my desktop for a few months before I turned on encryption. Backup continued to work after encryption.
But my desktop power supply went belly up. I plugged the MyBook into my laptop and it prompted me for the password. I entered the password saved in my pswd file (on both desktop & laptop). The drive says it is incorrect. What gives?
Is the encryption wired into the desktop such that I cannot mount it on another PC?
Did the power supply fry something in the drive? It mounted the unlock app with no trouble.
Help.
