WD Sharespace - Connecting the sharespace to a laptop through ethernet port without router

Hi guys

Just wondering if its possible to connect the sharespace directly to an ethernet port of a laptop without connecting directly to a router? I am looking to take my nas to a friends house. Can anyone please provide a beginners step by step guide on how this can be achieved. I am using windows 7.

Could work. If not, maybe using a cross-over cable?

If you’re not up to making it yourself, most computer shops should be able to help.

Yes, it is possible but you need to set the sharespace to a fixed IP-address beforehand and make sure your laptop will have an IP-address within the same network segment.

Using a crossover-cable is a good idea as well :slight_smile:
