Wd Sata drives and 3.3v requirement

The SATA standard specifies a power connector with 3 voltages supplied: 3.3, 5 and 12 V.

I read that most SATA drives do not require the 3.3V.

Which WD drives require the 3.3 V, specially for newer drives?

How is the 3.3V used? Is it related to special or optional functions?

In order to answer that question you can go to WD’s web and check the specs on a couple of internal drives
