WD reformatted from WIN to MAC can I retrieve WIN files?

Yikes, help

  1. I had a number of files copied from my Hard Drive onto WD external drive
  2. My son has a Macbook laptop and he wanted it backed up
  3. I hadn’t done my homework - ie: didn’t register that it would reformat the whole external drive and wipe its contents
  4. WD drive now has Time Machine with the MAC nicely backed up
  5. BUT my original Windows files are GONE
  6. Question: Can I extract the Windows files somehow?

Hi McNeil,

As you have reformat the drive which is a data destructive process and cannot be undone. Once the process begins, ALL THE DATA ON THE DRIVE WILL BE LOST!

Unfortunately, there is no way to recover the windows files backed up in it.
