WD RED hibernate

Hi,

I am using now WD Red on my Sinology NAS DS 212J.

There are some posts in Syno’s forum stipulating going hibernate is NOT recommended as it reduces HDD lifespan.

I imagine this could depend on the HDD being used

What is the position of WD on this matter ?

Thanks

Hello,

Using hibernation is good if you want lower energy consumption. But it should have no real effect on the hard drive lifespan.

Thanks, do ypu know how many start/stop cycles the WD Red is made for?
