WD Red 6 TB drive as external USB 3 backup storage?

Windows 7 64 bit / MediaSonic Pro-Box

I’d like to use a WD Red 6 TB drive in an external USB 3 drive case (MediaSonic Pro-Box) for simple backup storage because of its capacity. I use Acronis True Image, and turn off the power when the backup’s are complete.

Is the 6 TB Red appropriate for my usage? I use WD Black drives exclusively as system drives and have never had a failure.  – Thanks for your help, Bob

Hi,

I havent try using the drive on a external enclosure. However, if the enclosure supports the drive capacity and transfer rate, you shouldn’t have any issues.
