I am using a my cloud 4tb and the latest iOS on an iPhone 6, the app keeps telling me I am not authorised and asks for a new authorisation number every time I try to log in to wd photos, worked perfectly up to last week, I have reloaded the app, but still every time it goes to first time set up

Try to disable remote access and then restart the MyCloud unit, after the unit is rebooted, enable remote access again on the dashboard. Here is a link that might help you with the reboot process on the unit:
why would I want to reset the unit to factory settings, can’t one reboot and keep user settings, sounds drastic just to fix the app
