WD Passport i/o issues block

2TB 10months old WD My Passport, never dropped, attached to PC Windows 10, and now no access, no longer recognised by system: always i/o issues
What can be done???

Hi @Nostrum
Have you opened a Support Case? If not opened, for more information, please contact the WD Technical Support team for the best assistance and troubleshooting:

To fix the issue firstly try using a different USB cable and port. Check if it appears in Disk Management. If it appears then update the drivers and run CHKDSK. If not, test on another PC. You can use data recovery software like Stellar, or Reucva or consider professional data recovery if nothing works

An I/O device error is a problem with the device that prevents Windows from perusing its content or writing on it. It can show up on the hard drive (HDD or SSD), external hard disk, USB, SD card, CD/DVD, and so on. If the external hard drive is showing a disk I/O device error, you can’t move PC data to and from that drive.

For the most part, you get the message in Windows 10 when an I/O device error exists as “The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.” Check out this article to learn how to fix external hard drive I/O device error.
