WD Passport 1TB not recognised in PS3

My new WD Passport 1TB external hard drive dows not recognise in my PS3

I have formatted the harddrive to FAT32

Loaded AVI and MP4 files to watch movies

I am plugging it through the USB 3.0 port.

It works in a friends older PS3 but not in my PS3.

My PS3 software is up to date?

Any reasons for this?
