Yesterday I had an external USB drive (WD 500GB OpenBook) attached to my Windows Vista computer. Last night I had to reinstall Vista. Now when I click on the two partitions (E: and L:) I get an Access Denied message. I can and did take ownership of the two volumes and gave myself adequate permissions, but still cannot see any files on them.
How do I regain access to those volumes?
Sorry, I mean MyBook.
How did you perform the backup? Did you use WD SmartWare? If so, did the application show a complete backup? Even if your WD My Book is connected, if WD SmartWare is not installed or running then it will not back-up your files.
