I own about 10 WD MyPassport HDs from 2TB to 4TB, up to the latest 2019 version. The latest I got, is a 4TB red 2019 version (amazon) and I have noticed that it vibrates a lot (it sometimes clicks also, but very rare). Even in idle mode, without any transfer, if I hold it on my hand I can feel it vibrate.
I’ve compared the red one against all my other MyPassport HDs and it’s night and day (including a same generation 4TB 2019 version in blue that I also own). They all generate very tiny vibration or none at all, except the red one.
Is my red one a defect? Should I worry and check with WD for an exchange?
