Sometimes my hdd starts beeping and the pc won’t recognize it. I did try it another pc and also plugged it in to a WDTV live. Beeps left and right. ( 1 beep every 4 secs)

Then saw a youtube video and someone mentioned it to plug it in while the drive is held in an upright ( vertical) position. As soon as I did that the drive didn’t beep anymore and the pc recognized it immediately.

Any thoughts?

most of the time beeping sounds would be related to motor spin up issues. I would recommend not to unplug your external drive without prepping the drive for it. Heads can get stuck on platters and disks may not spin up on their own afterwards.
