WD MyBook Home Edition

I have had this drive for a long time and is still extremely efficient I bought it when I had Windows XP.

I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional last January, my external drive works ok, only one thing when I shut down my PC the external drive stays on and I have to press the power button to switch it off.

Any ideas if there is a setting or something I need to do. Thank you.

Denise51,

Unfortunately, the WD My Book Home Edition does not have a dedicated power-management application that can allow it to power off alongside your computer. The device was originally designed for Microsoft Windows XP, so it may behave differently on Microsoft Windows 7.

Thank you very much for letting me know that. I did wonder if that was the reason as it did work ok on XP.

Its no great problem just powering it  down as its still a brilliant external drive.
