When I am connected with firewire the HDD turns on and off with my computer. But sometimes Windows freezes when it is booting up at the Windows Logo screen. I have Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and the HDD has the latest firmware drivers. I have WD drive manager installed and that doesn’t help even if I safely remove the hard drive before I shut down becaues the hard drive turns on when I turn on my computer.
Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.
