WD MyBook Essential 3TB, Win8, impossible to update firmware, no internet connection detected

Hello,

here’s the problem: when I click on “agree” during the procedure to update the firmware, it says there is no connection, but the PC is connected.

Why?

The firmware I now have is 1.016 and I have just updated the WD SmartWare with no problems at all.

Where are you downloading from?

Then try calling WD support

although, if the drive works fine you don’t need to update the firmware at all
