I purchased WD MY Passport Slim 2TB back in 2014. It worked perfectly fine for years until now. One day just stopped working.
I can’t perform chkdisk or use any diagnostics in Windows because it won’t connect to a windows machine for more than a couple minutes, then typically the file manager will crash trying to access the drive.
And when it’s connected, accessing data on the drive or writing to it is painstakingly slow (10 kbps).
I decided to Backup important Data and Format the Drive and check for errors and bad sectors.
(Backing up around 150 GB took precisely 8 Days)
I formatted the Complete 2TB Drive and scanned for errors.
The Scans failed.
I tried MiniTool Software and did it again. But, again it failed.
tried to repair Bad Sectors but, all failed.
The Formatted-Empty drive takes about 10 Minutes to load and basically the drive is still primarily unusable.
So in an attempt to bypass any corrupt sectors or bad blocks, I created a 500 GB NTFS partition that I hoped I could at least work with. Again, to no avail.
The chkdsk command shows the following error
