WD my passport slim hdd substitution

First of all I hope all of you are ok!

I have a wd my passport slim 1TB (https://support-en.wd.com/app/products/product-detail/p/219). Unfortunately the hdd fell last week and it has stopped working properly since that time. Luckily nothing important was there. However I would like to reuse the enclosure, if possible. I have been trying to find other hdd compatible, but it is difficult and the problems are in the pcb interface and dimensions. Everything I find has SATA interface and not usb.

So, does anyone have a solution to help me?

Thank you!

That’s because it’s standard … and what WD do by attaching a non standard USB interface board is to prevent re purposing the drive in a laptop or any other standard 2.5" enclosure.

you’ll have to buy WD External hard drive … and guess what ? it will already come with an enclosure … because no-one else supplies them, only WD make these non-standard enclosures and usb interface boards on 2.5" SATA drives.

just forget about re-purposing the wd enclosure … it’s just a hunk of plastic after all.
