WD My Passport Not Supported?

I recently bought a WD 1TB Black USB 3.0 My Passport Portable External Hard Drive on Amazon and my purpose was to use it to store music. The drive works extremely well. However I have a cd player that has a USB port and when I connect the hard drive to it, it says unsupported. I then try it in my car and it doesn’t recognize or play anything on the drive. I don’t know if there is something wrong with my drive or is there some compatibility issues that this thing has. A normal USB flash drive works well in both my cd player and my car.

All new WD External drives are GPT partitioned … maybe your cd player will only recognise hard drives that are MBR partitioned ?

If that’s the case you’ll need to formart your hdd (wiping the data) to either NTFS/FAT/FAT32 etc and select MBR partitioning. (MBR partitions support up to 2TB … so, this won’t be an issue with your WD 1TB Black USB 3.0 My Passport)
