WD My Passport Essential won't recognise computer, but spins

The drive model is WDBAAA3200ABK-NESN.

Warranty: Expired

I need to recover data from this device.

Issue: Drive is not shown in My Computer, Device Manager or Disk Management.

The Drive spins without a problem however can’t connect to Windows 7, Mac OS 10.7, or XP

I have tried a different cable from a known working drive.

The Light on the Drive is a solid color when plugged in.

any assistance would be much appreciated

Hi, avoid using USB extension cables or USB hubs since that might cause problems, you can also try connecting the passport to another computer.

Using the orginal cable.

I have already tired that.
