WD My Passport 1TB Stopped Working on MacBook

I am using a 1TB My Passport with an Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook running 10.4.11.

I bought the WD Passport a couple weeks ago and was successfully able to transfer over all of my Media files (after formatting to work on a mac) to free up space on the Macbook.

All was fine until today when I plugged the HD in and nothing happens.  It does not show up on the Desktop, in the Finder, or in Disk Utility.

When I plug it into the Macbook, the white light on the HD flashes and the motor is definitely on, but that’s it.  I’ve tried plugging it into other Macs and the same thing happens.

I know that any solution is probably going to include wiping the HD, which isn’t ideal, but if the only option, is fine.  I just want to get the HD working again!

Any help is very much appreciated.

What if you try to update the firmware of your drive… On Windows?

I understand that you have a Mac, but your drive came Windows ready and there are users in the forum with the same issue and they were able to fix it this way, the Windows firmware is on this link: http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/wdsmartwareupdate/Step1.asp?id=wdfMP_SEEssential&os=win

I hope it helps!
