I have a WD MyCloud Home, 4TB
It has worked faultlessly for 18 months then one day it was simply dead on the shelf
I have disconnected it, checked the PSU, and it shows no sign of life when attempting to reboot it.
I have now tried three PSUs that I know work with another MyCloud, still no signs of life.
Anyone got any advice on how to get the device to boot up?
There are no LEDs showing, no sign of life, any help appreciated!
Thanks
You use the term ‘My Cloud Home’ and ‘My Cloud’ interchangeably, the two are not the same and the power adapters are not identical and sometimes not interchangeable. The use of non-factory original adapters could damage the device.
There is not much you can do other than try a factory adapter and file for warranty service if the device is still under warranty.
First, are you sure the outlet is live? (Don’t want to overlook anything). Does your PS properly power the other units?
Do you have backups of the content on that drive? Looks like warranty is 2 years so you may be able to get it replaced. If it’s still under warranty, contact WD Support.
If not, you can always “salvage” the drive inside and recover your content.
