WD My Book world and Mac Lion - dropping connection

I recently updated my WD My Book world (white light) drive with the Mac Lion updated software. This fixed the connection issue so that my Mac could use the WD drive for time machine back ups. 

I’ve been experiencing a problem ever since and would like to know if it is happening to anyone else? The external drive shows up in Finder for a while, but then randomly drops connection. The only way I can get it back is to reboot the WD drive (fully power of an on). 

Can anyone offer advice please?
