I have an intermittent problem with my 3TB WD My Book Essential external drive.
Running Win 7 SP1 64bit
I’ve had the drive a few months and when I first got it, plugged it in, everything was great and I was able to load files on it. I’ve noticed recently that intermittently the drive does not show up in windows explorer and device manager. This doesn’t occur while the computer is on it’s more like one day I turn the computer on and the drive is connected and no problems, then the next day I turn the computer on and the drive is not found. I try restarting, unplugging the drive, different USBs, etc and nothing seems to help until the next time I boot up my computer and it magically appears again…
It is going through USB 3.0 card and a 4-way hub. I’ve tried eliminating both of those as potential sources of the problem but they don’t seem to be the source.
Anybody come across this?
