WD my book essential need to be formated before use?

my 2 tb my book essential has stopped working due to fault in hard disk controller.so i removed the hard drive and used as internal hard disk.my hard disk is detected in my computer but getting an error message this drive need to be formatted before use…i got important data’s in it …is there any solution to copy my datas ?

yes, you can look for a recovery tool and reformat once the data has been retrieved

Try TestDisk , MiniTool or Recuva ( Freeware )

If the drive came with Smartware the data is hardware encrypted by the circuit board with the USB port. It doesn’t matter if you installled the Smartware or not.
