WD My book (blue rings) not responding

I have a WD World Book (with blue rings). The rings no longer light up but the drive appears to be on. I cannot access it on the network. It is not responding.  Any ideas on what I can do? It does contain data that I would like to access or get off of it if the unit needs replacing. 

I can hear the drive power up when I plug it in to the power source, so it appears it does come on.  I have tried the reset using the paperclip but I still cannot access the drive and the blue rings do not light up.

The reset process on the blue rings is far more complex
