I just bought another 1TB WD, and I’m trying to use it via firewire. I have a Mac G4 Power PC. It will work with USB 2.0 but it’s not being recognized with firewire. Can someone help me? I believe it is an installation issue.

You can check if the device appears by going to the Apple menu and then clicking on about this Mac, then Firewire.
If the drive shows there but does not work it could be a problem with the cable or device, if it does not show there you might not have the latest drivers for the Firewire bus.
You can try restarting the computer and connecting the device again.
