WD LIVE TV - no hdmi, no component... how can I get the sound working?

Hey,

I wanna buy WD Live TV, but wanna plug it to my LG 22’’ screen, which has dvi only. I can buy a hdmi->dvi cable, but what about the sound? My screen has no component… Any tricks, speakers with component, anything cheap to make it work?

Get a red and white component at one end, which adapts into a computer speaker cable (like a headphone jack type setup) at the other end. Mine is attached to a pair of computer speakers. $50 gets you a pretty good computer speaker setup

You can still do that.

WDTV-HDMI–> HDMI to DVI adapter →  LG

WDTV-Audio Out (included cable) → LG Audio In ; Set WDTV Audio Mode to STEREO.

Or use a separate amplifier as descirbed.

Thx guys,

you mean sth like that?

Well, the cable that it comes with will be good enough.

It has the 1/8" mini plug at one end, and branches out into 3 RCA connectors.  You can just ignore the yellow composite one and use the 2 audio ones (red and white).

I want to do like this:

WD Live → Composite cable →   jack adaptor → ‘line in’ jack port in my speakers

Is it ok?

Yes, sorry… I misunderstood… that should work.

Thx!
