WD Live Plus Play some files only in preview window (workaround found)

  1. I just notices some .vob files only play in the preview window while others play fine. I have tested the .vob files on network share with VLC and it has no problems plying the files.

Ok, so you’re saying that some vob files ONLY play in the preview window?

What happens otherwise?

The ones that play in the preview window will open to the time scale then just a black screen. The whole move will play in the preview window if you just highlight it.

hi there

  • try to press ENTER or PLAY while having highlited the title [do not go deeper , into vobs]  - and check if the movie works

  • ENTER or PLAY - as I do not remember which of those two ingites/starts  the “vobs” to play the movie as  a dvd.

when you hit enter or play it just opens up to a black screen after you see the time scale.

I found an odd workaround. Let the movie start in the preview window, then select the preview window and then select enter.  The movie then play in full screen. Anyone at WD have any ideas why this works?

When you start a preview, that DISABLES DVD mode.   

So, if it’s working OK in PREVIEW window, but not working otherwise, then there is something wrong with how the DVD was authored.

Are these files FULL DVD Rips?

Yes they are full rips, work in VLC with no issues.
