WD HD Live Plus XVid Issues

Plays but the image is like a slideshow. Plays a few seconds normal, then the image freezes and the audio continues normal. After a while, image is moving again for a few seconds then freezes again. No problems on audio.

Any fix for this?

Please post MediaInfo for the offending file.

Hmmm, nothing particularly unusual about that file, not even bit rates (so not even a possible network issue even if you were playing it that way).

Do all your files have issues or just this one?   To put it another way, are there any files you can play that *don’t* act oddly?

It may be down to the ‘warppoints’. I believe that the WDTV does not like them.

Rich is correct; the GMC Warppoints (and QPEL, propbably) are the issue.

Run the file through AVI ReComp, that’s what I use for old AVIs with bad (for WDTV) encoding settings.  It’ll remove the GMC and QPEL settings and output a working file.  Shouldn’t take too long for a file that size (it only recompresses the video, leaving the audio intact).

Another option would be to run the file through Handbrake and create an MKV, although in that case the entire file will be re-encoded and I suspect it’ll take a bit longer.  The end result should be a smaller (and working) file.
