WD Green 3TB Internal Drive keeps resetting to factory "unformatted" state

I installed a new 3TB WD Green Desktop Hard Drive into my Windows 7, Dell Dimension E520 Desktop computer.

I formatted the drive as 1 NTFS partition after I converted it to a GPT Disc.

Everything worked fine until the files being stored exceeded 2TB. After that, the drive resets to factory setting when the computer is rebooted. I lose all my data on this newly “unformatted” drive.

Can anyone tell me how this can be fixed?

HI Driver70, try running a DLG test, if the test. Check the link below for the steps.

It definately sounds like it’s a configuration or compatibility problem on the SATA controller side of things. First thing, go into the BIOS and see if the SATA controller is set to AHCI mode (rather that IDE or RAID), if it’s in IDE or RAID don’t change it, just post back here.

Also check to see if a BIOS update is available for your machine, and in particular check the revision history for any mention of HDD compatibility fixes or 3TB+ support.
