I purchased a WD Green 2TB WD20EARS drive yesterday and attempted to use it as a secondary drive for my desktop system (Core2Quad, Asus P5K-VM mobo, running Win XP SP2). I also recently updated the BIOS.
The drive is recognized in my BIOS but its not visible in XP.
I attempted to change the jumper settings 7&8 but it still isn’t visible in XP.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you to the great people at WD for helping me out with this one, the solution was much simpler that I thought.
It turns out that XP had recognized the drive but I needed to go to the disk management and partition and format.
The drive was not showing up on my computer.
The reason why… it was not formatted.
