WD External Hard Drive & Twonky

For some reason my WD external hardrive has Twonky on it.  I have used my external hard drive to watch movies but for about  a year or so Twonky was some how put on this drive.  I did not put it on.  No my Xbox 360 nor PS3 can see any of my movies on this drive.   I’ve called WD and Twonky and they both said it’s not their problem.  Help me please.

BTW, I can see the movies on my computer.

What external are you talking about?  A WD My Book Live?  (Which is the forum you posted in.)  If so, it’s SUPPOSED to have Twonky on it.  It always has.

If you’re talking about some other external drive, then what’s the problem?

Western Digital 4TB My Book World Edition II External Hard Drive

I used this external hard drive for two years and never saw Twonky, so to say that it comes with it I don’t believe it.  all of a sudden last year it shows up and now I can’t watch any movies (I streamed for two years).  I called Twonky and they knew nothing of this, so again, I don’t believe this comes with it.  Why would the company say this?  I did some research and Twonky is suppose to make streaming easier but again, my Xbox360/PS3 can’t even recognize any music/movies/photos now.  If someone can help identify the problem I would greatly appreciate it.

Well, first, you’re in the wrong forum.

This forum is the WD Mybook Live NAS.

The forum for the MBWE is here:   http://community.wdc.com/t5/Other-Network-Drives/bd-p/mbw_world

Second, all you need to do is look at the documentation for the MBWE to see that Twonky is, in fact, included.

    • *No it’s not, the forums have merged. Now for the other guy. The mybookworlds are not external drives, they are NAS and have twonky installed as standard. Twonky does not stream all formats to all devices either, it’s a minefield. Look up dnla in google for more info.
