I am getting a WD My Cloud EX 4 without drives, I will purchase 2 wd red 2tb drives separately and install them. Will I be able to add other new 2tb drives later without having to lose data or Raid config?

Welcome to the community, Jonclaud. It depends on how you set up the Raid. If it’s jbod, then yeah, you can just add a drive. If it’s raid 0 or raid 1, then no, you need to back up your data and reconfigure the raid, because you’ll lose the data.
For EX4 can’t we add disk in pairs for Raid 1 ? Add an initial pair and then later add another pair.
Not that I know of. You would still need to recreate the raid.
