your drive has to show up on your pc to do a ‘factory reset’
you really need to post more information to get any kind of help
what OS ? … does it show up in Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Drive Management ? … Have you tried it on a different PC ? … Have you dropped the Hard Drive ? … Is the LED Light of the Hard drive on ? … Is it Blinking or is it Constantly lit ? … Does the hard drive make any sound ? … Have you tried a different USB cable ?

You can not do factory reset on the drive. It does not have that option. Answer those questions that JoeySmyth so he can help you further.
