WD elements portble 1TB USB 3.0 drive not recognized in Linux and Windows

Hi,

I have a 1TB WD elements portable drive which was working fine in Windows7 and Linux Mint operating systems. Recently I was transferring photos from this disk into another hard disk via linux mint. In the mid of the process my 1TB drive went unresponsive. I tried mounting, reconnecting, and also tried in Windows but no luck so far.

in Windows device manager doesn’t show it. In Linux, fdisk doesn’t show this drive. I’m worried about the data plus the disk. Can someone help please…

Ugh, that stinks. If the OS doesn’t see it, I’d suggest contacting WD support. Not much you can do for these portable drives, as you can’t even pull them from their case and mount them with a SATA connection.
